Our lovely town ‘PATI’ has batik as a cultural souvenir, that is Batik Tulis Juwana which also called Batik Bakaran Wetan. Bakaran Wetan is a village in Juwana subdistrict that popular with central of Batik. Batik Tulis Bakaran Juwana is often used by Pati’s society for khajatan, collection, and also as duty’s uniform.
Batik Tulis Juwana has lived on the earth since 1471 bc. When, a curator of Majapahit kingdom art things who named Nyi Sabillah(Nyi Danuwati) came to Bakaran Wetan village because a escapee misson to looking for a cache place. Because she was a fugitive from Majapahit Kingdom as the result She had professed Islam.
And Finally She hid in Bakaran Wetan village and she made a small pray place for doing pray Shalat and Majapahit troop didn’t know about her. During the cache in Bakaran Wetan village, the daily activity of Nyi Sabillah was making batik with her way. And Nyi Sabillah tough Bakaran Wetan’s society to make batik. And now, we called the batik, Batik Tulis Juwana.
If we observe Batik Tulis Juwana’s motive from the colors , it has special characteristic. The colors that dominate are black and brown. Batik Tulis Bakran Juwana’s motive different with batik tengahan and batik pesisir ‘s motive. Tengahan type because , it is the type of Majapahit kingdom. But Batik Tulis Juwana can be different and make a new style for Batik World.
